YEARS of studying is set to come into fruition for some NSW students next week.
Higher School Certificate (HSC) written exams will officially get underway on Thursday, October 13 across the state.
The HSC period will conclude on Friday, November 4.
2016 results will then be released for students on Thursday, December 15.

Thanks to the SMH, here are 10 timely tips for HSC students:
- Double check the time and date of each exam.
- Plan your journey leaving plenty of time to get there.
- Have the right equipment with you – forgotten or faulty equipment is not grounds for misadventure.
- Have spare batteries for your approved calculator.
- Leave your phone outside - check your pockets before you go in.
- Bring a bottle of water.
- Listen carefully to what the presiding officer tells you.
- Use a black pen.
- Write as legibly as you can.
- Stay calm and do your best.
