Cr Cordelia Troy was so disgusted and disturbed by the act that she pulled down the carcass and attempted to drag it out of sight.
She described the act as horrific and disrespectful and called those responsible “sick imbeciles.”
Cr Troy was driving her son to work on Sunday morning when she saw the kangaroo near Brokenwood Wines on McDonald’s Road.
She estimated the kangaroo was about 1.8 metres and said it would have taken two, possibly three people to impale it.
“I pulled up and took it down. It’s poor taste, disgusting,” she said.
“It was an horrific site propped up there like a sick joke. It was as tall as me, huge, it’s arms thicker than mine,” she said.
“I would have dragged it further away from the road and out of sight if I could have but it was so big. I couldn’t manage on my own.
“No doubt some sick bastard would have taken a selfie with their face next to it and posted it on social media and they should be held accountable,” Cr Troy said.
She was also concerned about young children witnessing the spectacle during one of Wine Country’s busiest times of the year.
“The fact that someone took the time to prop it up on a stick and thought it was okay gives me a real insight into the mind of that person and what a disgusting wretch to even think of it,” Cr Troy said.
“Those responsible need to be identified and punished.”
