Macarthur FC player Antonis Martis will head back to Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland after his loan period to the south west Sydney club came to an end.

The midfielder featured in 23 A-League matches for the club across the Bulls' debut and second A-League season.

A Macarthur Bulls statement said that Martis returned to FC Midtjylland over the weekend.

"It has been a great year and a half having Martis with the Bulls and we wish him all the best and continue to support him from afar," the statement said.

"The club would also like to thank FC Midtjylland for trusting in us with Martis and his development in his football career."

Before joining the Bulls, the Cypriot Australian played 42 games with the club in the Danish under-19 Youth League and graduated the FC Midtylland academy.

The 20-year-old has earned international rep honours for both Australia and Cyprus, captaining the Australian Joeys under-16s in two tournaments (in Vietnam an Cambodia), and playing for the under-19s national side for Cyprus on two occasions.

The Blacktown product said he was thrilled to join the Bulls under the coaching of Ante Milicic.

"Being based overseas I don't get the opportunity to play in front of my family and friends too often," he said at the time.

"I am very excited to be back home playing with Macarthur FC in the inaugural season."

The Bulls are currently second on the A-League ladder behind Melbourne Victory.

Macarthur FC plays its home games out of Campbelltown Sports Stadium and trains at Fairfield Showground.
