We are opening up from lockdown to a new Fairfield City, with council services due to return from next Monday and new projects being opened for residents to enjoy within the coming months.
While big new projects such as the wave pool at Aquatopia and a community business hub are opening soon, I'm also excited to announce the return of council's services.
Residents are able to once again be with their family and friends, and Council is glad to be able to re-open services for the community to enjoy safely.
Council's libraries, leisure centre gyms, Fairfield Showground and community halls will reopen from Monday, October 18 as well as our Community Nursery and the Western Sydney Cycling Network.
Council will also extend library hours at Whitlam Library to 10pm, Tuesday to Thursday, and at Fairfield Library to 8pm, Monday to Thursday in particular to help HSC students, who have had a tough study year.
The Recycling Drop Off Centre reopens from this Saturday.
Fairfield City Museum & Gallery will open from Tuesday, October 19, Fairfield City markets from Saturday, October 23and indoor pools for Learn to Swim classes, lap swimming and rehabilitation activities from Monday, 25 October.
Council's administration centre will reopen on Monday, October 25 and Aquatopia from Saturday, November 6. From December 1, we should be able to hold events such as the Senior's Concert.
Some of the exciting council projects being completed in our new Fairfield City for the community include the wave pool at Aquatopia, Dutton Plaza Car Park, futsal courts at Emerson Park and the community business hub Fairfield City HQ.
My councillor colleagues and I were pleased to be able to open and welcome the first shoppers to Dutton Plaza Car Park on Monday, October 11.
Families will be able to enjoy the new 55-metre wave pool at Aquatopia, due to open next month and the new FIFA standard futsal courts at Emerson Park to train or play.
And businesses, whether a start-up or small to medium sized, can find rare affordable office space and facilities to help them grow at our new community business hub, Fairfield City HQ, which will be available for hire from December.
After months of lockdown, there will be something for everyone as we open up to a new Fairfield City.
