If historical romance is your thing, we've got a book for you.
ACM, thanks to our friends at HarperCollins, has six copies of brand new book Her Heart for a Compass to give away to help with the lockdown blues.
The new novel is penned by Sarah 'Fergie' Ferguson, Duchess of York, in her first adult fiction novel, following a host of best-selling children's books and several non-fiction tomes.
Her Heart for a Compass is a personal novel for the Duchess, as it is a fictional account of the life of Ferguson's real-life great-great-great-aunt Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas-Scott.
Written alongside multi-million-copy selling author Marguerite Kaye, the book is 'a story of duty, family, love and a woman's yearning for freedom and independence in a strict, controlling society'.
Her Heart for a Compass, set in London, 1865, follows Lady Margaret as she attempts to rebel against the society which is forcing her into an arranged marriage.
A free spirit, Lady Margaret resolves to follow her heart even though her parents are close friends with Queen Victoria and the family would face public scrutiny. As a result, she is banished from polite society.
The story sees Lady Margaret travel to Ireland and America and 'follow her internal compass' to seek her place in society. Ferguson said it was "a dream come true... to be a first-time novelist at the age of 61".
"Lockdown gave me the time and space to tell a story that I have wanted to write for 15 years," she said. "I think people will see the parallels between me and my heroine Lady Margaret - she's a redhead, she's strong-willed and she's led by her heart. She attracts the attention of the press and she makes a career in writing. But ultimately, this is a work of fiction and not an autobiography."
Her Heart for a Compass is out now through HarperCollins' Mills and Boon.
