Sydney United 58 coach Tomi Vidovic said Manly United were "on the end of a month of frustration" after their 5-0 demolition of them in front of an empty Sydney United Football Centre on Sunday.
In fact, after starting the season with four straight wins, the defending champions had to wait 42 days for their fifth win. But it was definitely worth the wait.
Patrick Antelmi netted a hat-trick and veterans Matthew Sim and Glen Trifiro also got on the scoresheet in the dominant victory to move the Reds into the third spot on the ladder.
The result comes off the back of three scoreless draws which saw them drop out of first place on the ladder.
"We've had a tough period but there's a lot of belief in the group and we knew that this was coming so I'm very, very happy for the players," Vidovic said.
"I think even before this we had momentum in terms of performances... we've had good performances for a period of time so we just have to continue that."
