One person has died and another has been injured in a housefire at Carramar this morning.
Emergency services were called to River Avenue about 7.15am , and found a person outside a single-level villa suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.
A man was removed from inside the building by a staff member and another resident.
Officers from Fire & Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics performed CPR, however the man could not be revived.
NSW Ambulance inspector Phil Sweet said: "NSW Fire and Rescue did a great job securing the site so that we could treat our patient in a safe environment. Despite the best efforts of paramedics and other emergency services, the patient couldn't be resuscitated."
Parts of River Avenue remain closed to traffic and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The fire has been extinguished and once the site is declared safe, fire investigators and detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command will begin their examination of the scene.
