Want a fantastic activity for the kids these school holidays?
Hunter Valley Gardens has the adventure for you!
The gardens is once again holding its annual Mega Creatures display, including for the first time a night safari - and Australian Community Media has some free tickets for you and the family.
Running until April 25, the attraction features animatronic animals and dinosaurs and various displays.
The Night Safari is said to be even more thrilling than any previous exhibition, as the pre-historic beasts come to life once the sun goes down, with the help of special effect lighting, sound effects and more.
This year's exhibition also features dragons, a three-metre volcano that lights up the night, and even a walk-through spider tunnel to test your nerves.
A walking dinosaur will roam the grounds from 6.30pm-9.30pm.
Dinosaurs include a flying Pteorsaur, animatronic Brachiosaurus, a terrifying T-Rex and a nursery full of baby dinosaurs.
There's also an Ice Age display with three-metre Woolly Mammoths and Saber-Toothed Tigers.
For those visiting during the day, there are more than 20 new additions including an archaeological dinosaur fossil dig to search for lost dinosaur bones and a secret dinosaur egg hunt, with a new egg hidden each day within the Gardens. The walking dinosaur will also make an appearance between 10.30am and 2.30pm.
To bring even more life to each display, a downloadable Trail App allows visitors to discover fun dinosaur facts and take part in photo challenges and quizzes during the day while providing an eerie landscape at night.
Hunter Valley Gardens marketing and communications manager Kim Jacobs said the night safari was the "best installation we've had yet".
"As the sun sets, the creatures are brought to life through shadows, sound effects and lighting to make each Mega Creature feel even bigger and more realistic than ever," she said.
"The displays are a wonderland for families. Kids can spend hours exploring hidden treasures, getting close to the gigantic pre-historic beasts, and exploring our expansive gardens. The displays take the pressure off parents' hands and provides endless excitement for curious little minds."
While visiting the gardens, families can also enjoy a number of amusement rides, such as a 25 metre high ferris wheel that offers views of the gardens, a carousel, teacup ride and swing chair, all for $5 per ride.
Mega Creatures will be open every day from 9am-4.30pm, then 6pm-10.30pm for the Night Safari from until April 25.
Australian Community Media has seven family passes (two adults and up to two kids between four and 15 years old) valued between $79 and $99 for either the day or night safari to give away.
