The sun is shining but the rivers are still rising in Sydney's Hawkesbury as rain run-off finds its way down stream.
The good news is that the worst is almost over. The river peaks are expected today, and then the water can start to recede.
Further up the NSW coast and clean up efforts have begun as waters have dropped to reveal the devastation below.
The Defence Force has been confirmed to be on hand to help in the mammoth clean-up effort.
The lesser-talked about impact of the flood is that wildlife is also on the move, with a warning out to be on the watch for snakes and spiders also seeking dry ground.
