A counter-attacking unbeaten half century from wicketkeeper Raveesh Srivastava helped Fairfield Liverpool share day one honours with Eastern Suburbs at Rosedale Oval on Saturday.
Srivastava (50 off 59 balls) hit six boundaries and a six to help the fourth placed Lions reach 5-189 off 70-overs on a rain-shortened day. He will resume on Saturday with Luke Ohrynowsky (13 not out) as the home team look to cement their finals place against the sixth-placed visitors with only one round remaining.
Losing the toss and batting, the Lions reached 0-51 before losing three quick wickets including the in-form Param Uppal.
Arjun Nair (40) and Yuvraj Sharma (20) were patient in the rebuild but when they both fell with the score on 126, the Lions were teetering until Srivastava kept his run of consistent scores going.
In his last eight innings, he has scored 315 runs at an average of 78. A big score would cap a great season for the gloveman.
Matthew Sarkies (3-65) was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.
