Man allegedly stabbed with scissors in Fairfield

A man will face court today after he allegedly stabbed a man with a pair of scissors in Fairfield overnight.

About 11pm on Monday, February 22, officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended Harris Street following reports a man had been stabbed in the upper arm.

The 47-year-old man was treated at the scene and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

While police were patrolling, they noticed a man walking on Railway Parade at Cabramatta, matching the description supplied to them. The man ran when he saw the police and a foot pursuit commenced.

The 28-old Villawood man was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

Police will allege the man approached a group of men in Harris Street and attempted to start a fight. As one of the men started walking towards his car the man allegedly produced a pair of scissors and stabbed him.

The man was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was refused bail. He will appear in Liverpool Local Court today.
