A 36-year-old Canberra woman was eight times the legal blood alcohol limit when she drove her car into a ditch on the Barton Highway just over the ACT-NSW border: police say.
NSW police said they received reports of a grey VW Polo hatch driving erratically on the highway at Jeir, near Murrumbateman, about 2pm on Sunday.
"Thanks to members of the public officers located the vehicle as it drove into a ditch. The driver was uninjured," they said in a statement.
The driver, a 36-year-old woman, returned a roadside reading of 0.416. She was the only person in the car.
"The driver was taken back to Yass Police Station where she was subjected to a breath analysis, returning a reading of 0.419 grams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath. [This is eight] times over the legal limit and well over the threshold for high range drink driving," police said
"The driver was charged with high range drink driving and had her NSW visiting driving privileges withdrawn."
She was ordered to appear before Yass Local Court next month.
