Man charged with alleged traffic offences in school zone

A man will appear in court today charged with alleged serious traffic offences while in a school zone last month in Bonnyrigg.

About 2:50pm on Friday, November 6, officers from Fairfield Highway Patrol were conducting traffic enforcement duties in a school zone along Elizabeth Street, Bonnyrigg, when a Mercedes E350D was allegedly detected travelling well in excess of the 40km/h speed limit. Police attempted to stop the vehicle where it failed to do so.

Officers commenced investigations and on Monday, November 9 a 29-year-old Austral man was issued with a court attendance notice for driving at a speed dangerous to the public, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, not stopping when directed to do so and driving while suspended.

The vehicle was also confiscated by police for a period of three months. The vehicle owner will be responsible for all holding fees.

The man will appear in Liverpool Court today.
