As is invariably the case when cricket resumes, so does the rain.

That was the situation in round three of the NSW Premier Cricket season with Fairfield Liverpool and Parramatta forced to settle for a draw on Saturday.

Resuming at 2-36, Parramatta had moved to 2-89 in their pursuit of the Lions' total of 244 before the rain set in. Nicholas Bertus (35 not out) and Hayden Goulstone (34 not out) had put together a 71-run partnership before play was suspended at Old Kings Oval. Josh Baraba and Chad Sammut were the wicket-takers.

The Lions return to Rosedale Oval in round four against the unbeaten Sydney with one win, one draw and a loss from their opening three games.

Meanwhile second grade remain unbeaten after Sydney's big wet ruined their big run chase at Merrylands Oval. Chasing 381, the Lions were 1-134 when play was stopped with Awad Naqvi (59 not out) and Varanjit Singh (56 not out) putting together a 121-run partnership.
