IN a world where state borders are closing and coronavirus fears are rising, Orange police are offering up a shiny piece of hope to one couple.
The police station is often a place where lost goods are handed in, and this week officers are looking for Sue who has lost her gold ring.
Recently, a good Samaritan handed in a ring that they'd found in the Orange CBD in NSW's Central West and police believe the community can help find its owner.
"The ring says 'To Sue, eternally yours love Ray' and then it has a date," Sgt Mick Sullivan said.
He said the rightful owners will also know the date that is engraved in the ring.
"They should be able to prove how they love each other," Sgt Sullivan said.
The ring was found at 1.30pm on June 26 at the corner of Kite and Sale streets and was then handed into police.
Sgt Sullivan is hoping that the community will help reunite the ring with its rightful owner.
"Somebody would know Sue, or hopefully the family of Sue if she doesn't read this, " he said.
"Hopefully someone would know that they had a ring with Sue engraved inside."
Sgt Sullivan said the gold ring also has symbols engraved on the outside.
"This ring isn't in the 2000s, so something that old to still have the engraving written on there is rare," he said.
Sgt Sullivan has asked the community to help find Sue and then ask her to collect her ring from Orange Police Station by asking for the exhibits officer at the station counter during business hours.
