Finance Minister Mathias Cormann has denied suggestions there was any rift between the federal and NSW governments over the funding for the recovery after this summer's devastating bushfire season.
Sky News reported that the split between the two became so bad that NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian refused to take calls from Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
"It's just not true," Senator Cormann told Sky News on Sunday.
"Having been part of every single conversation in relation to these matters ... the prime minister was in constant contact with Premier Berejiklian."
He said there was "absolutely no quibbling" between the two governments out over the $2 billion bushfire recovery fund.
Senator Cormann was repeatedly pressed on Sky News report that were largely based on unnamed sources.
"You tell me who is making these statements and I might be able to respond to them - completely impossible to provide a relevant comment in response to alleged anonymous suggestions," he said.
Mr Morrison and Ms Berejiklian will be attending a state memorial for NSW firefighters who battled this summer's bushfires in Sydney later on Sunday.
