Man charged with affray after alleged knife attack at Canley Heights

A man has been charged with affray after an alleged knife attack at a cafe in Canley Heights yesterday.

About 8.40am (Thursday, November 21), a 28-year-old man entered a cafe on Canley Vale Road where he allegedly took a knife from the kitchen before swinging it towards a man seated at a table.

The 28-year-old was arrested at the scene by officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command.

Just after 9.40am, a 43-year-old man presented to Liverpool Hospital with a small stab wound.

Hospital staff alerted police who arrived shortly after.

Police believe the 43-year-old man was involved in the earlier incident at the cafe in Canley Vale Road.

The 28-year-old man was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with affray and intimidation.

He was refused bail to appear in Liverpool court today (November 22).

Inquiries into the incident at the cafe continue.

The men are not believed to be known to each other.
