POLICE NEWS | 'Experienced' driver fined $344

A 65-year-old man from Fairfield West was observed by police holding a mobile phone to his ear whilst driving on Hamilton Road, Fairfield Heights at 9am on Sunday, October 27.

When stopped and asked for a reason he replied: "It's OK, I'm a very experienced driver."

He was issued a fine for $344 and will lose five demerit points.

Teenagers charged with robbery

A 13-year-old boy from Edensor Park and a 14-year-old boy from Bossley Park were charged on Tuesday, October 29 with a robbery from a 14-year-old boy the day prior at a shopping centre in Greenfield Park.

Both were charged with robbery in company and were given conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Children's Court on November 18.

Car keys stolen

During the evening of Friday, October 25, a man had been at a residence in Polding Street Fairfield with a group with the consent of the owner. During the evening the man has stolen the car key from within the house and taken the vehicle, a Holden Astra.

Contact was not able to be made with the man in the following days and the vehicle was reported stolen. At 1:30pm on Monday, October 28, police spotted the vehicle on Cardwell Street Canley Vale parked and unattended. Whilst police were waiting for a tow truck, they observed the man drive past in another vehicle. Police stopped the man and the stolen car key were located.

The 29-year-old male from Canley Vale was charged with stealing property from a dwelling and taking and driving a conveyance without consent of the owner

He was initially bail refused, but later granted bail at court and will next appear at Fairfield court on December 10.

Stolen motorcycle damaged

As a result of numerous calls to police in regards to the manner in which a motorcycle was being ridden in Cathcart Street, Fairfield, police attended an address in the street arresting a 35-year-old man and located a stolen motorcycle which now had a damaged ignition.

The Fairfield man was charged with taking and driving a conveyance without the consent of the owner, driving with a suspended licence and damaging property.

He is bail refused to Fairfield court on November 9.
