Rain looms large over the round two NSW Premier Cricket match between Fairfield Liverpool and Northern District after a hard-fought opening day on Saturday.
Winning the toss and batting, the Lions battled to 9-134 off 59-overs after rain delayed the start of the match.
Atharva Patil (28) top scored for the second straight game as four of the top six Lions batsman reached 20 but couldn't convert. Ivan Sunjic scored four in his first grade debut. For the visitors, Brett Randell and Scott Rodgie each took three wickets.
It could all be in vain with rain forecast for Friday and Saturday. Fourth grade were the only other team to get on and will resume at 2-40 chasing 211.
Across town and Blacktown Mounties face a touch run chase after Adrian Isherwood's century saw Western Suburbs reach 6-239 on a rain-affected day at Pratten Park. Gurinderjeet Hara and Antum Naqvi each took two wickets for the visitors who will be hunting early wickets on day two...if there is any play.
