Parklands Food Fest is back for 2019, with new chefs, new food and new entertainment for an all ages celebration of the homegrown on Saturday, September 7 at Lizard Log, Abbotsbury, in Western Sydney Parklands.

Joining this year's celebrity chef line-up at Parklands Food Fest is Australia's most famous Spaniard in the kitchen, Miguel Maestre aka "The Crazy Bull".

Miguel is a celebrated chef and author with a host of television credits to his name including Boys Weekend and Channel 10's The Living Room.

As a food lover from a very young age, Miguel's cooking style incorporates ingredients he grew up with in Murcia, the south of Spain, with the fabulous fresh produce of Australia.

Also headlining the attractions will be award-winning pastry chef, Anna Polyviou. The energy levels will max out as Anna takes to the stage at Lizard Log. With her love of fabulous desserts, Anna creates a party atmosphere wherever she goes, and extraordinary sweet treats too.

Anna is the executive pastry Chef at the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney and is known for her unique take on desserts and appearances on TV shows like Family Food Fight and MasterChef Australia.

She has revolutionised patisserie across Australia with her sell-out Dessert Degustations and High Teas, as well as her cookbook Sweet Street.

Both Miguel Maestre and Anna Polyviou will host live cooking demonstrations, featuring recipes inspired by fresh, local, seasonal produce from the Parklands' own urban farming precinct.

They'll be joined by the best of Western Sydney's producers, farmers and local heroes including Skye Blackburn of The Edible Bug Shop.

Skye Blackburn is western Sydney's Bug Lady. She's actually an entomologist and a food scientist with a passion for sustainable food practices.

Australia's first 'farmer' of edible insects, Skye is now an expert on farming techniques, developing products suitable for Western diets.

Through cooking demonstrations, media appearances and collaborations, she's always raising awareness about the benefits of farming insects as a food source.

Combining food science and entomology may have seemed strange at first but her knowledge from each profession has seen Skye release a range of insect products that are safe to eat and taste great.

Thai-Lao food stars Tona and Ketty Inthavong of Green Peppercorn restaurant in Fairfield and Blacktown will also be there.

Now in its eighth year, Parklands Food Fest is the flagship event for Western Sydney Parklands, also known as "Sydney's Biggest Backyard".

It features an array of food and drink stalls, market produce, entertainment and free children's activities.
