Sydney Roosters NRLW captain Simaima Taufa knows the difficulties involved in juggling home and work life and appreciates what is being done by the Roosters and Steggles during the 2019 Women in League round on Sunday, August 18.
Steggles, a key sponsor of the Roosters in both the NRL and NRLW, brought Simaima and her family together to highlight the importance of quality time with loved ones.
"We're a close family and I wouldn't be where I am today without their support and guidance. It really lifted my spirits to see us all enjoying a meal together," Taufa said.
Recent research findings from Steggles show that over half of Australians (58 per cent) admit to sacrificing family time as lives get busier and working hours lengthen and it's women in particular whom people feel are making the greatest sacrifice (77 per cent).
Almost all of the nations (89 per cent) stated that the women in their lives deserve greater recognition, with most of those (86 per cent) believing more can be done to celebrate the hard-working women in their lives.
"It was hard to get my break in NRL. Like many women, juggling work, family, community commitments and exercise can be tough. I had to spend a lot of time away and sacrifice important family moments, which is one of the hardest things I've had to do," Taufa said.
"The physicality of the sport as well as enjoying it, along with the clear pathway that's been made for women in the sport.
"I love the mental side of things as well as the physicality and opportunities to develop as a person and a player. And for the future of the women's game to forge an easier pathway for future generations coming through."
Steggles will replace its logo on the Sydney Roosters players' jerseys with the names of their Roosters NRLW counterparts at the Women in League round on August 18.
"We're excited to show our support of hard-working Aussie women by replacing our logo with the names of the Roosters NRLW players," Steggles marketing boss Yash Gandhi said.
"It's a small but powerful recognition of all women who work hard to be there for all of the people who rely on them across home, work, community and more."
"I'll be one of many role models to advocate for that balanced work life, especially in the female space," Taufa said.
"The opportunities that Steggles and the Sydney Roosters allowing us to have our names on the jerseys is an amazing thing to see.
"To see all of our hard work continuing to pay off and to know a younger generation will have something, a team to aspire to play for, it's something I'm really excited about."
