CAPTURE FAIRFIELD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Fairfield Council's Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition had 42 visual-art and 434 photo submissions, with entrants showing off their creative talents in capturing the essence of our city.
This year's Local Government Week theme of Your Council, Your City and Your Council, Your Community attracted entries from budding artists and photographers in the child, youth and adult categories, which showcase the places, diversity and community spirit that make up Fairfield.
Judges made their selection based on the skill and strong visual appeal of the works submitted. The judging panel was made up of mayor Frank Carbone, deputy mayor Sera Yilmaz, Fairfield museum co-ordinator Carmel Aiello, local artist May Zuhair Jamil and the council's marketing manager Lisa Mifsud.
Mr Carbone said he was impressed by the entries, which had motivated people to discover some of our city's hidden gems.
"It was great to see people's unique interpretation of the places, diversity and community spirit that make up our City," he said. "I hope the competition has inspired locals to rediscover the beauty of our city.
"I'd like to thank everyone who participated. We're thrilled by the huge response from the community."
