Gabriele Moretti wants to give people a behind-the-scenes winery experience they won't forget. And all for a good cause.

Mr Moretti, who has used the Hunter Valley as inspiration for his restaurant Amoretti's, is leading a tour of the famous wine region on August 4 (7.30am to 6pm).

The event includes wine tastings, behind the scenes tours of three wineries and lunch at Piggs Peake winery. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Children's Hospitals Foundation.

"The Hunter region is only two-hours away and yet people haven't had a chance to explore the great wines we have in our own backyard," he said. Tickets cost $175 and includes transfers, wine tastings/tours and lunch.
