'Only halfway': Vinnies make urgent winter appeal

Vinnes NSW chief executive Jack de Groot is urgently calling for donations to support their work with people experiencing poverty, homelessness and disadvantage.

With June coming to a close, Vinnies is only halfway towards its Winter Appeal fundraising goal.

"Our aim is to raise $1.2 million to ensure that we can continue to be here for the growing number of people needing our help. Sadly, more and more people are turning to us for help with very basic needs such as paying the bills to keep the lights on or putting food on the table," he said.

"On behalf of the tens of thousands of people we support, we thank those generous people who have already donated to the Vinnies Winter Appeal.

"What better time of year to make a donation than the end of the financial year where all donations to the Vinnies Winter Appeal are tax-deductible."
