Winner, winner: Matthew Betsey with the Best Technology for Participation award at the Sports Technology Awards in London last week for Cricket Australia's CA Coach App.

Bonnyrigg Heights resident Matthew Betsey said a desire to "support and inspire" the cricket coaching community led to the development of the now award-winning Cricket Australia's CA Coach app.

Betsey, Cricket Australia's head of coach development, was in London last week to accept the Best Technology for Participation award at the 2019 Sports Technology Awards.

The app, launched in September 2018, has seen more than 15,000 unique downloads, over 30,000 videos views and 20,000 training sessions planned.

"We wanted to ensure every coach of a junior team in Australia had the resources and knowledge to provide the best possible playing experience for junior cricketers," Betsey said.

The former Fairfield Liverpool fast bowler said the CA Coach App, in conjunction with Zappasoft (technology partner) and ShotCut Entertainment (content partner), provides a toolkit for coaches which includes session plans on batting/bowling fundamentals, fielding and running between the wickets. There are also frame-by -frame videos of desired techniques.

CA's Acting Executive General Manager of Team Performance Belinda Clark said the app puts great information into the pocket of every coach with Australian cricket's elite coaches sharing their philosophies and principles.
