The happiness of getting the keys to a new home at Stockland's Willowdale community at DenhamCourt has moved first-home buyer BarryDuremdes to tears.

The Singaporean expat and his wife Belle captured their first-home-buying journey on video, including their emotional reaction on settlement day when they were officially able to call the two-storey four-bedroom home their own.

Mr Duremdes said they chose Willowdale because of its community diversity, frequent free events and the welcoming nature of other residents.

"We spent quite a lot of time within the community before becoming residents, attending the many different local celebrations and activities," he said.

"This made our decision to buy our home here easy because we could see this being a great location to raise our growing family in the future. I was emotional when we finally saw the completed home. It is very exciting for us."

Nationally, 87 per cent of those moving into a Stockland community are owner-occupiers and 50 per cent are first home buyers.

RichardRhydderch, NSW General Manager of Residential Communities at Stockland, said it was rewarding to watch the home-buying dreams of customers become reality at Willowdale, a community of more than 1500 families.

"On behalf of Stockland, I'd like to congratulate the Duremdes family on moving into their new home and we wish them all the best as they begin this exciting chapter of their lives," he said.

"We're proud to watch Willowdale flourish into a highly liveable community which has a strong focus on healthy and happy residents, creating a truly sustainable place to live, now and into the future.

"We're expecting many more families to settle into Willowdale this year as there are scores of new homes currently under construction."

In a major growth corridor and close to major transport links, Willowdale homeowners are reaping the benefits with home and land starting from $567,000 compared to the Denham Court median property price of $765,000.

Willowdale has a community centre, shopping centre, sports facilities, a proposed primary school and is 15 kilometres from Liverpool.

It's close to the M5 and M7 and the new Leppington station.
