The finalist process of the Fairfield City Local Business Awards ensures that the most deserving business people take their seats at the gala presentation evening.
Finalists are selected based on the number of online and printed nominations they receive in their specific category, with the most popular businesses being selected.
Businesses were notified of their selection by the Local Business Awards and received a finalist pack that included an invitation to the presentation evening, a certificate, the judging criteria and general information about the awards.
Once finalists were selected they were judged by two-stage process: information provided by the business and an anonymous visit by a judge.

Consideration is also given to: business history and marketing; staff training; business and environmental sustainability; successes during the past 12 months; support of the community; and plans for the future.
Judging criteria also included aspects such as whether the business was identified with clear signage, that the premises were clean and well maintained and staff were appropriately dressed, and whether the customer was acknowledged on entering.
"The principles of quality customer service include, but are not limited to, customer service, range and/or presentation of products/services, value for money and the overall business presentation, including the online presence of the company and the online experience," a spokesman said.
