Four Southern Districts softballers will spend January representing NSW at the under-17s National Championships in Adelaide.
Zachary Roberts, Amber Gunn, Natalie Armstrong and Blake Becquet will pull on the sky blue of NSW for the week-long tournament which will see the best young softball talent from across Australia compete.
The fab four were selected after a series of tough trials.
For Gunn, who lives in Hoxton Park, her first time representing NSW comes after 13 years playing the sport.
The 16-year-old said she was “looking forward” to representing her state. She plays anywhere from the outfield to pitcher for her club team CVD Bashers who are coming second in the youth division.
Armstrong, 16 also plays second base and shortstop for the Bashers.
“It will be good to have a familiar face playing for NSW,” Gunn said of Armstrong.
“I like playing softball because it is a good chance to meet new people and I like working with working with different people’s abilities.”
For Roberts, of Hoxton Park it will be his second time representing the NSW under-17s team. Becquet, of Busby, has previously represented the NSW under-15s Metro team.
- This Saturday, Southern Districts will host a crazy blue fundraising day at Jacqui Osmond Softball Centre, Warwick Farm to raise funds for the quartet.
