St Gertrude's Catholic Primary School Senior Citizens' Christmas Morning Tea has become so popular – nursing homes hold off accepting other invitations to wait for a call from the school.

On Wednesday, the school welcomed almost 100 seniors from Sclabrini Village (Austral), The Manor Fairfield East, SWIAA Bossley Park, Estia Health Merrylands, Bossley Park Opal Care and Sclabrini Village (Chipping Norton) for their annual Christmas celebration which began in 1975.

Year 6 pupils walked the seniors to the table which was decorated with homemade cards and decorations.

The seniors were also treated to a range of performances while interacting with pupils over morning tea.

The event is the school’s way to reach out to the elderly — who may not have family around at this time — and share the Christmas spirit with them.
