POLICE | Man loses finger in machete attack at Carramar

A man has lost a finger after being attacked with a machete at Carramar this morning.

Emergency services were called to a home unit on River Avenue about 5.20am and found a man being treated by ambulance paramedics.

The man, 43, told police he was attacked in his unit by a man armed with a machete.

The man has lost a finger in the assault, he has a severe injury to his left arm and extensive cuts to other parts of his body.

Fairfield police officers have been told that the man’s injuries are serious but they’re not believed to be life-threatening.

The man is now in a serious but stable condition in Liverpool Hospital.

A crime scene has been established and a search is under way for the man responsible.

It is believed the men are known to each other and this is being treated as a targeted attack.
