Art show: The work of the Fairfield City Museum and Gallery’s 2017/18 artist-in-residence will take centre stage when Linda Brescia’s Holding up the Sky exhibition opens at 2pm on Saturday, November 24. The collection’s hero piece, which the exhibition is aptly named after, is a giant installation made up of 681 meticulously woven domestic cleaning cloths suspended from the ceiling. Food and fun: The Nicaraguan community will hold a fundraiser event on Saturday, November 24 from 3pm-8pm at Fairfield Phoenix Baseball Club, Vine Street, Fairfield. Fill your pantry: Anglicare Sydney, in partnership with St Johns Park Anglican Church, has opened a new Mobile Community Pantry. Once a fortnight, a van drives up to the church at 73 Edensor Park, St Johns Park to distribute affordable fresh food to those who need to stretch their budget. For a $10 contribution, people on a Health Care, Immigration or Pension card can take home more than $60 worth of pantry items. The pantry will be open on Monday, November 26 from 1.30pm-2.30pm.
