The return of Australian pace trio Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummings was bad news for Fairfield Liverpool with Steve O'Keefe (4-42) returning to play for Manly on Saturday.

The left-arm orthodox spinner, more commonly known as SOK, sent down 29-overs to help restrict the Lions to 185 at Manly Oval.

Jeremy Cashman (67) dug in for the visitors and combined with Andrew Deitz (23) and Jeremy Maher (25) for fighting partnerships late in the day.

Lions’ skipper Harmon Sandhu then struck in his first over to leave Manly at 1-9 at stumps.

Next week the visitors, who are still searching for their first win of the year, will have the services of twin spinners Arjun Nair and Param Uppal.

Nair (back) bowled for the first time this season on Sunday in Fairfield’s Poidevin-Gray Shield win against Sydney taking 3-27.

Uppal (62) top scored with the bat to orchestrate the run chase of 161 for the loss of six wickets.
