Police appeal after attempted carjacking at Canley Vale

An investigation is underway following an attempted carjacking at Canley Vale overnight.

About 8.45pm (Thursday, October 11), a man was sitting in his car near Prince Street Park when he was approached by another man.

Police have been told the man threatened him with a firearm and ordered him to open the door.

The 59-year-old man refused and the armed man fled.

Police were alerted and officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and conducted a search of the area.

An investigation into the incident is underway and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The man is described as being of tanned complexion and approximately 168 centimetres tall.
