Two men and an officer charged with assault following Bonnyrigg Heights incident

Two men and an officer have been charged with assault following an incident in Bonnyrigg Heights earlier this year.

Police attended a community hall on Chopin Close, about 10.55pm on Friday, August 17, after a 36-year-old man, an off-duty senior constable, was stabbed in the torso, while trying to detain a 17-year-old boy.

As responding police were arresting the 17-year-old boy, it’s alleged he was assaulted by four men.

Following investigations by Professional Standards Command, two men – aged 38 and 43 – have been issued Future Court Attendance Notices for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both men are to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday,  November 19.

A 33-year-old constable attached to South West Metropolitan Region has been served a Future Court Attendance Notice for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, intentionally record intimate image without consent, and intentionally distribute intimate image without consent.

He has been granted bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday, November 20. The officer’s work status will be reviewed.
