Man charged after loaded firearm located at Guildford

A man will appear in court today after a search was conducted at a home in Guildford yesterday.

Detectives from the Cumberland Police Area Command went to a home in Excelsior Street, Guildford, about 6pm on Tuesday, October 9, to arrest a man for alleged domestic violence offences.

Police searched the home and seized a loaded, shortened, double barrel shotgun and other weapons.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Granville Police Station.

He was later charged with eight offences including throwing a substance with intent to burn, possessing a shortened firearm and ammunition and possessing a prohibipossess prohibited drug (cocaine).

The man was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday, October 10).
