Daniel Andrews is committed to seeing through a second term of parliament if the Labor party wins Victoria's November election, colleagues say.
Members of the premier's frontbench on Monday hit back at a report in The Australian newspaper that the 46-year-old would quit politics midway through a second parliamentary term.
"Not true ... the premier has made it clear that his intention is to serve a full term and certainly I'm looking forward to working alongside the premier for many years to come," Treasurer Tim Pallas told ABC Radio.
Mr Andrews is a man of his word, the treasurer said.
"What he says he'll do, he does.
"He is a conviction politician who gets in and gets things done."
Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan, often touted as a future leader, also backed Mr Andrews' ongoing leadership.
"There isn't speculation. The premier said really clearly he would serve a full term," she told 3AW radio.
Victorians go to the polls on November 24 and Labor is seeking a second term under Mr Andrews.
