The equation is simple for last year’s NPL 2 champions Marconi to make the NPl 1 finals: win their final round clash against Wollongong on Sunday (3pm) at Marconi Stadium  – and they’re in. Results fell the Stallions way in the penultimate round of the competition.

Not only did Michael Beauchamp, Sean Rooney and Marko Jesic net goals to ensure a come-from-behind 3-2 win against Sutherland, Hakoah Sydney City East upset Rockdale City Suns 1-0.

The pair are locked on 30 points with Peter Tsekenis’ team holding a three-goal better differential.

Meanwhile, Panny Nikas’ late strike was enough to secure Sydney United 58 a 1-0 win against Manly United to lock down third spot heading into their final round clash against Sydney Olympic who need to win to snatch the premiership off APIA Leichhardt who defeated Bonnyrigg 6-3 at the weekend.
