Have you ever been sitting in traffic at The Horsely Drive and Polding Street intersection and wondered what that vacant piece of land is?

It’s a question Fairfield councillor Paul Azzo asked at the last council meeting – and he isn’t happy with the answer.

“From my understanding it was the RTA that acquired this site some years ago with the intention to make a dedicated left hand turn onto Polding Street North from The Horsley Drive,” he said.

“Can we remind the Roads and Maritime Services [RMS] to get on with creating this dedicated left hand turn to help the flow of traffic at this busy intersection.”

A RMS spokesman said they have investigated the feasibility of a number of improvements in the area including that intersection.

“Future improvements to the intersection will be reviewed in line with state wide priorities, the availability of funding, and traffic requirements,” the spokesman said.

Cr Azzo said it was “not good enough” from the RMS.

“The RMS acquired this land years ago and it still sits vacant today,” he said.
