‘It’s a legal requirement’: Council offers free cat microchipping

Microchipping your pet cat can help avoid the “heatbreaking” possibility of losing them.

That’s why Fairfield mayor Frank Carbone is calling on residents to take advantage of council’s free microchipping day on July 21.

“Microchipping your pet cat is a legal requirement under the Companion Animals Act. But it also ensures that any lost or missing pets can be easily identified and reunited with their owners,” mayor Carbone said.

“Pets are important members of our families and we know how heartbreaking it can be when they go missing. Microchipping ensures owners can be found when a vet, animal shelter or council scans the chip of a lost pet.

“Council encourages all residents to have their cat microchipped and registered.”
