The Maltese Choir took out first place at the 2018 Seniors Talent Quest at Club Marconi on Thursday at Club Marconi. The event, attended by close to 700 people, was part of Fairfield Council’s Seniors Week celebrations with multiple events held across the region.
Almost 39,000 Fairfield residents are aged 60 years or over, making up more than 19 per cent of the population.
Fairfield mayor Frank Carbione said seniors are a ‘large and important proportion” of our community.
“As our population continues to age, seniors will continue to play a significant role in shaping our City as a great place to live and play,” he said.
“Many of our city’s seniors do great things in our community. Their skills, life experience and wisdom are invaluable as they continue to care for grandchildren, share family traditions, volunteer in the community or continue in the workforce.
“Seniors Week is a great opportunity to recognise the achievements and compassion of our seniors community.”
