Champion photographer Simon Bennett comes face-to-face with Harley in the latest episode of his weekly video podcast, Life of Si.

The cocker spaniel cross poodle is the Cabramatta High School’s first ever companion dog and started “working” with the students when he was eight-weeks-old in December last year.

Every Tuesday and Thursday the young pup engages with students across the school including providing support to students going through counselling or having kids read to him to make them feel more comfortable.

In a wide-ranging episode, he also goes behind-the-scenes with tennis players at Lurnea who are fighting to keep their tennis courts and has high tea with Brooke Murphy and Peta Borg who are organising a Mother’s Day event in Camden on May 5 and 6.

“It will be a lovely, cosy event in the little laneway beside the hall,” Ms Murphy said. “It’s tables of two with waiter service and a range of teas, cakes and savoury foods.

“It’s all very gourmet and Newton-like, but with a Camden twist.”

Also in Ep 9, he explores the back streets of Cabramatta and meets Ken Young from the Fairfield RSL as they make a call-out for members to join the sub-branch.

Can I call Cabramatta a village? I just did.
