Between the hours of 10pm on Saturday, January 20 and 9am Sunday, January 21, a 37-year-old male from Smithfield forced entry into a religious place of Worship located on The Horsley Drive at Smithfield and stole property.
On Thursday, February 1, following an extensive investigation by Fairfield police, a search warrant was executed at an address on Brenan Street, Smithfield. The 37-year-old male was not present at the time of the search warrant, but police located items of interest.
About 5pm on Thursday, February 1, police were patrolling Cabramatta Road in Cabramatta West when they saw the 37-year-old male driving a white sedan.
Police activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the male. The male drove in a dangerous manner in an attempt to evade police. A police pursuit was commenced and after a period of time, the male drove into a dead-end street. Once this occurred, the male got out of the white sedan and a foot pursuit was commenced. The male ran into back yards in an attempt to evade police. The male was caught with the assistance of a police dog.
The male was arrested and charged with a range of offences and refused bail and appeared before the Fairfield Court on February 2 where he pleaded guilty and received the sentence of two years imprisonment with 18 months non-parole.
Goods in Custody
About 12:30am on Thursday, February 1, police were patrolling the back streets of Canley Vale when a 33-year-old male from Green Valley was seen loitering around parked cars.
As police approached the male, he immediately turned and walked in the opposite direction. Police caught up to the male and spoke with him.
When police searched the male, they found a ‘postpak’ bag in his underwear. The name and address on the bag were not those of the male.
The male was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for goods in custody. He is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on March 14.
Break and enter charges
On Friday, February 2, police from Botany Bay executed a search warrant at an address on Hornet Street, Greenfield Park. A 47-year-old male was arrested at the house and charged with break, enter and steal. He was refused bail to next appear at Fairfield Local Court on February 8.
