About 3pm on January 24, police were patrolling Canley Vale Road at St Johns Park when they stopped a vehicle for a random breath test.
As police approached the 28-year-old male driver from Cabramatta, they saw that there was a large amount of baby formula in the vehicle.
Police spoke to the driver and passenger and the vehicle was searched. Police found that there were 13 items, including the baby formula, inside the vehicle which were suspected of being stolen. The accumulative value of the items is estimated at $325.
Police conducted checks which revealed that the driver of the vehicle was wanted for a shoplifting offence in Bondi Junction to the value of $12,595.
The male was charged with four offences including shoplifting and goods in custody. The male was given conditional bail and is to appear at Liverpool Local Court on February 21.
Disqualified driver fails drug test
About 1:20am on Friday, January 26, police were patrolling Poliding Street at Fairfield when they saw a white coloured dual cab utility turning right contrary to a ‘No Right Turn’ sign.
Police stopped the utility and spoke with a 27-year-old male driver from Wetherill Park. Police established that the male had two outstanding arrest warrants and he is disqualified from driving until the, July 17 2018.
The male was subjected to a road side drug test which returned a positive result for methamphetamine.
Police subsequently searched the male and found that he had an amount of crystalline methylamphetamine in his underwear.
Police searched the white dual cab utility and found two NSW motor vehicle registration plates which were reported stolen from Chester Hill in October 2017.
The male was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with four offences including possession of a prohibited drug, driving a motor vehicle whilst disqualified, disobey ‘no right turn’ sign and good is custody suspected of being stolen.
The male was also charged with the two outstanding warrant matters.
Police are currently awaiting the analysis results from a secondary oral fluid test in relation to the driver driving a motor vehicle whilst under the influence of a drug.
The male is to appear at Fairfield Local Court on January 29.
Man charged with goods in custody
About 12:25am on Wednesday, January 24, a 33-year-old male from Green Valley was stopped and spoken to by police whilst he was hiding in a secluded alcove near a licensed premises on Railway Road Cabramatta.
The male was subjected to a search where police found 11 mail documents addressed to different people.
The male was arrested and charged with goods in custody suspected of being stolen. He is to appear before the Magistrate at Liverpool Local Court on February 5.
