Fairfield LAC – the pioneers of the Coffee with a Cop initiative which now operates statewide – have expanded the program to include schools.
Last week they attended Bossley Park Public School for Recess with a Cop.
The event allows pupil to interact with police officers and provides a platform for children to ask questions about life on the beat.
Senior Constable Green, Senior Constable Son, Sergeant Luczak and Multicultural Community Liaison Officers Nathaly Parish and Sozan Jabur took time to interact with the pupils during recess on Monday.
“The kids had such a great time talking to them, asking them questions and even playing handball,” assistant principal Judith Birkett said.
“They spent the whole of the recess break with the students and they were mobbed. There was such a buzz in the playground. It was so nice to see all the positive interactions that were happening. Lots of students were asking if we could do this again next year.
“The Fairfield LAC and the school have a great relationship. They have supported us through conducting workshops for both students, parents and caregivers in cyber safety, drug education, stranger danger awareness and road safety.”
The next Coffee with a Cop event is on December 14 at Neeta City at 10am.
