Open day fun

FAIRFIELD police will hold an open day at Fairfield High School on September 6. Units which will attend include Polair, the dog unit, highway patrol, mounted police, the media unit, youth and school liaison, marina area command, forensic services group, crime prevention and the counter-terrorism and special tactics unit. There will be rides, showbags, live entertainment and food stalls. The event will take place at Fairfield High School, The Horsley Drive, Fairfield, 10am-3pm. Details: 9728 8407.

House set alight

Three police officers have been taken to hospital following a suspicious house fire at Bossley Park on Saturday night. Emergency services were called to Stromlo Street just before midnight where they found a house well alight. While the fire was extinguished, the home sustained damage to the front. A woman in her 60s was removed from the house by three police officers and taken to Liverpool Hospital suffering smoke inhalation. The officers also suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for treatment. Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Five teens charged

Five teenage boys from Smithfield and Panania have been charged with robbery in company after a 39-year-old man was assaulted and robbed on Henry Lawson Drive at Milperra at 11.30pm on August 15. On August 22, detectives arrested five men aged 16 and 17. They were granted bail and will appear at a children's court on October 8.
