Champion Schools: Bossley Park High School students to live like astronauts

A group of Bossley Park High School students will find out whether they're made of the right stuff next month, when they travel to America for a spot of astronaut training.

On September 20, the group of 56 students and teachers will head for Alabama to take part in the US Space Academy Program, which runs once a year, and is open to all students in years 9-12.

While there, the students and teachers will gain a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with hands-on training, learning the mental, physical and emotional challenges faced by astronauts.

While overseas, the local group will also visit attractions in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Fransisco, as well as spending three days in South Korea.

"This will give students an once-in-a-lifetime experience which they will bring into their future," said co-ordinating teacher Katherine Birkett.
