"OUR world, our choice" is the slogan Bossley Park High School students found themselves repeating after completing the first stage of the High Resolves Initiative Program earlier this year.

The program aims to inspire students to learn new skills and look beyond themselves to do their part at solving the bigger problems of today.

High Resolves places an emphasis on learning about citizenship, leadership and the role of each individual as a global citizen.

During the first stage of the program Bossley Park's year 8 group of students were called to focus on the concept of "collective identity" and who we are within the global community.

Students learned about where their family trees truly began and how the whole world is related far more closely than anyone could guess.

Head Teacher of Student Welfare, Lisa Edwards, said that students were, 'exposed to ideas about how fortunate we are and learned to understand our global responsibilities as global students'.

Concepts considered by the students included: we're all equal; the world's wealth distribtued; and living standards compared to one's wealth.
