Cup hopes gone

Westfields Sports High School have been eliminated from the Schoolboys Cup after losing to Erindale College 24-22 at New Era Stadium. Leading 10-6 at half time, Westfields couldn't maintain the lead in a see-sawing contest that went down to the final play. Westfields tries were scored by George Francis, Kurt Kerrigan, Cameron King and Mark Griffiths.

Graham Murray tribute

More than 250 people paid tribute to the wonderful contribution Graham Murray made to rugby league at Cabramatta Leagues Club on Friday. Organised by the Western Sydney Men of League Foundation, the tribute luncheon was attended by Murray's wife Amanda and daughter Cara, as well as special guests Paul McGregor and John Peard. The Graham Murray Volunteer of the Year award was also established. Murray, who coached several NRL teams, died earlier this year after a second heart attack.

Tranter sixth in event

Former Westfields Sports student Daniel Tranter finished sixth in the final of the 200 metre butterfly at the Commonwealth games.

Districts soccer finals

The finals of the Southern Districts Soccer Football association will begin this weekend across Fairfield and Liverpool.
