Veteran winger in his trusty socks

PAT Richards' booming kick-off had a distinct local flavour on Saturday night.

The Wests Tigers' winger wore his trusty Cabramatta Two Blues socks as part of junior league appreciation round. Richards was part of one of the most successful Two Blues teams in history in the late 1990s winning multiple grand finals. Back then Richards' size was utilised in the front row where he went on to represent Parramatta in the lower grades and then on to win a grand final with the Wests Tigers in 2005 before returning to the joint venture this year — a successful stint in England.

Another former Cabramatta flyer had a special moment at the weekend. Jacob Gagan's 55th-minute try for the Sharks was his first in the top grade and Cronulla's first in 324 minutes of football.
