Attempted armed robbery in Cabramatta

An elderly man has been injured during an attempted armed robbery in Cabramatta yesterday.

About 1.30pm, the 84-year-old was walking along Albert Street when he was approached by a man carrying a knife.

He grabbed the man by the chest and demanded money.

The 84-year-old told the man he didn’t have any money and they struggled.

The elderly man was punched in the eye and fell to the ground.

The man ran from the scene and ambulance paramedics were called.

The 84-year-old was taken to Liverpool Hospital with bruising to his eye and a cut to his elbow, requiring stitches.

The man has been described to police as aged between 30-35 years, Asian in appearance, between 165-170cms tall with a skinny build.
